Engineering Documentation Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY

The Engineering Documentation Specialist develops, maintains, and improves quality system documentation that supports compliance, operational efficiency, and employee effectiveness. This role partners with cross-functional stakeholders to translate technical, scientific, manufacturing, service, and quality information into clear, accurate, and user-focused documentation while ensuring alignment with Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and documentation standards.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop, revise, and maintain controlled documentation including policies, procedures, work instructions, forms, training materials, validation protocols, reports, user manuals, service manuals, and customer communications.
• Translate technical and scientific information into clear, concise, and easy-to-understand documentation for a variety of audiences.
• Ensure documentation complies with company standards, Quality Management System requirements, and established documentation practices.
• Support document control and change management activities, including document review, approval, release, and revision processes.
• Partner with subject matter experts and functional teams to gather information, document processes, and improve documentation effectiveness.
• Review documentation for accuracy, consistency, completeness, usability, and compliance with applicable standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve documentation quality, templates, workflows, and knowledge-sharing practices.
• Develop visual documentation elements, including diagrams, workflows, charts, photographs, and graphical illustrations, to enhance understanding
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate degree in Technical Communication, English, Journalism, Communications, Engineering Technology, Life Sciences, or a related field with 3 plus years of technical writing experience; OR Bachelor's degree in a related field with 0 - 1 year of technical writing experience.
• Experience creating technical, operational, or quality-related documentation.
• Strong written communication and editing skills.
• Experience working with multiple stakeholders to gather and organize information.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Strong technical writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, concise content.
• Knowledge of document lifecycle management and change control processes.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Effective collaboration, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Knowledge of Quality Management Systems, document control practices, and content management processes preferred.
• Experience creating visual documentation and technical illustrations preferred.
