Event Services Lead - Phoenix Convention Center

The Phoenix Convention Center and Venues host a diverse range of conventions, trade shows, meetings, and entertainment events in one of the premier convention facilities in the United States. The Phoenix Convention Center currently is seeking a dedicated professional to join their team as an Event Services Lead.

The Event Services Lead directs and works with an assigned shift of Event Service Workers, part-time, and temporary workers who perform a variety of manual work, including event set-up and tear down and custodial duties. The work performed in this role is essential as it provides support to activities and events such as conventions, luncheons, commercial exhibitions, and theatrical performances at the Phoenix Convention Center and Venues. Frequent public contact is required.

Duties include assigning work, directing, and participating in work in progress, and inspecting work upon completion. Work is performed under the supervision of the Event Services Supervisor.

There is one full time Event Services Lead position available requiring irregular work hours, evenings, and weekends. Employees must be able to work any shift as assigned by management for training purposes. Then shifts will be assigned based on seniority.

Assigned shifts may be:

• Sunday - Wednesday, 5:00 am - 3:30 pm
• Sunday - Wednesday, 1:30 pm - 12:00 am
• Sunday - Wednesday, 8:30 pm - 7:00 am
• Wednesday - Saturday, 5:00 am - 3:30 pm
• Wednesday - Saturday, 1:30 pm - 12:00 am
• Wednesday - Saturday, 8:30 pm - 7:00 am

SALARY

Pay Range: $22.61 - $33.41 per hour.

Hiring Range: $22.61 - $26.18 per hour.

• Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.
• Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.

Internal Only: Please understand that this is pay grade 041. If selected, your salary offer will be based on the applicable promotion or demotion worksheet in accordance with the City Pay Ordinance.

• Promotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade increase.
• Demotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade decrease.
• Lateral transfers occur when there is no change to the last two digits of the pay grade.
• When there is a change in the first digit of the pay grade, there may also be a change to your classification or unit.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Two years of experience in convention center, theater, or cleaning methods.
• Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
• Additional Requirement include:
  • Work shifts in this classification may include irregular hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays; and are assigned based on length of service or seniority.
  • Forklift certified at time of hire or obtain certification within six months of hire.
  • Moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

• Supervisory experience.
• Experience with event setup in a public venue utilizing graphic design such as cad diagrams for set up requirements.
• Experience working with and leading contracted temporary labor.
• Experience interacting with clients and the public.
• Experience using computerized work order and event management information systems.
• Experience working with the materials, methods, and practices related to building and facility care.
• Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Experience using motorized ride on equipment and cleaning equipment such as ride on and manual scrubbers, ride on vacuums, extractors, sweepers, and pressure washers.
