In the Service Technician role you will play a critical role in servicing and repairing complex manual and powered wheelchairs and other essential medical equipment. Your strong understanding of manufacturer specifications and use of current resources will ensure proper repair, maintenance, and functionality of our products, directly contributing to customer satisfaction and reliable, safe equipment for users. Key Responsibilities Diagnose and repair equipment, both in the shop and in the field. Maintain stock and rental equipment, keeping it clean, organized, and in reliable working order. Ensure a clean, organized, and safe shop/warehouse environment. Maintain delivery vehicles to keep them in safe operating condition. Manage parts inventory—receive, store, and ship parts, with accurate tracking. Complete accurate documentation in a timely manner, obtaining necessary signatures and submitting reports. Educate customers and caregivers on proper use, care, and safety of equipment. Perform minor fittings and adjustments to customize equipment to each user. Follow all safety procedures and regulations to ensure a safe work environment. Participate in required in‑service training to stay updated with industry practices and product knowledge. Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Education: High school diploma or GED required, or minimum one year of related experience. Experience: Minimum of two years of relevant mechanical experience; experience with medical equipment is preferred. Technical Skills: Proficiency with hand and power tools for equipment repair. Computer Skills: Basic knowledge of Word Processing, Email, and Internet for documentation and communication. Problem‑Solving: Ability to quickly assess situations and make sound decisions to resolve issues. Driving: Valid state driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record; travel to various locations may be required. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience with wheelchair repair or medical equipment. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Physical Requirements This role requires the ability to meet the following physical demands: Lifting up to 50 lbs; pulling/pushing equipment weighing over 100 lbs. Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and kneeling. Fine manual dexterity for equipment manipulation and repairs. Ability to work in inclement weather conditions during field operations.
