Project / Construction Management Internship - Summer 2026 (Multiple Locations)

Salary Range: $25.77/hour to $35.23/hour (final determination of pay may vary based on location, skills, education and experience).

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Internship Program at Cupertino Electric, Inc. is a 10‑to‑12‑week program designed to expose undergraduate and post‑graduate students to various aspects of CEI’s core markets: Commercial, Data Center, and Energy & Renewables. The program offers students unique opportunities to contribute to real‑world projects and make meaningful industry connections across locations in California, Ohio, Iowa, Wisconsin, New Mexico, and Utah.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Below is a detailed example of tasks an intern may participate in or contribute to during their time with CEI. Estimate Phase – Creating a bid strategy, obtaining quotations, and writing proposal letters. Pre‑Construction – Negotiating contract terms, creating an original budget and schedule, planning for efficiency, logistics, and materials, organizing documents and drawings, selecting subcontractors, and holding a job start meeting. Construction – Managing materials, submittals, and change orders; maintaining activity logs; managing vendors and subcontractors; writing RFIs and notice letters; monitoring project progress including cost and safety. Closeout – Managing closeout documents, commissioning equipment, and returning excess material.

You will gain exposure to a wide variety of experiences and solve comprehensive challenges, working directly with project managers or executives and collaborating with field, engineering, and design teams. You will learn from everyone on site – from journeymen and general foremen to the project team assigning daily tasks.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Current students studying Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field are preferred. Licensure / Certifications: None required. Experience: 0 years of experience required.
