Location 15 MAPLEWOOD AVE,East Hartford, CT, 06108,United States Job Category Religious Education / Faith Formation, Parish Ministry Support, Administrative Support Employee Type Non-Exempt Manage Others No Description The Religious Education Assistant supports the parish's faith formation programs by providing administrative, organizational, and communication assistance to the Director of Religious Education (DRE). This position serves as a key resource for students, parents, catechists, and volunteers while helping to ensure the effective operation of religious education programs, sacramental preparation, adult faith formation, and special parish events. Requirements Program Administration Assist with the daily operation of parish religious education programs.Prepare classrooms and parish facilities before classes and ensure the building is secured after programs conclude.Support the planning and implementation of religious education activities, special events, and liturgical celebrations.Perform additional duties as needed to support the mission of the Religious Education Program. Registration and Recordkeeping Maintain student registration records for Religious Education (Grades K-8), Confirmation, Adult Faith Formation, and Vacation Bible School programs.Update student information and enrollment records throughout the year.Create and maintain attendance records and provide periodic attendance reports.Maintain confidential records in accordance with parish and Archdiocesan guidelines. Financial Records Track program fees and payments using approved parish and Archdiocesan systems.Maintain accurate payment records that correspond with student registrations and program financial reports.Assist with record reconciliation and financial documentation as assigned. Communication and Outreach Prepare and distribute announcements, emails, and informational materials regarding classes, meetings, special liturgies, and parish events.Communicate with parents, catechists, and volunteers in a professional and timely manner.Monitor program email accounts and direct inquiries to the Director of Religious Education when appropriate.Assist with bilingual communication in English and Spanish when needed. Catechist and Volunteer Support Maintain contact information and assignment records for catechists, classroom aides, and volunteers.Distribute program materials, schedules, and updates.Assist with volunteer communications, training coordination, and program support. Virtus and Safe Environment Compliance Coordinate monthly Virtus training requirements for catechists and aides.Maintain training records, attendance documentation, and required signatures.Support parish compliance with Archdiocesan Safe Environment requirements. Vocations and Faith Formation Programs Prepare and distribute monthly vocation awareness materials for catechists and students.Maintain records of program topics and educational materials.Assist with the implementation of parish faith formation initiatives. Qualifications Practicing Catholic who supports the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church preferred.Strong organizational and administrative skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, Google Workspace, and database management.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work effectively with children, parents, volunteers, clergy, and parish staff.Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.Successful completion of required background screenings and Safe Environment training. Work Schedule Sunday Religious Education Classes: 10:15 a.m.Monday Religious Education Classes: 6:30 p.m.Additional evening, weekend, and special event hours as required. #J-18808-Ljbffr
