Buyer – Purchasing / Inventory Management

1st Shift | Monday–Friday
Temp-to-Hire | $25–$30 per hour

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Buyer to manage purchasing activities, vendor relationships, inventory, and purchase orders. The ideal candidate will have previous buyer experience and strong communication, negotiation, organizational, and inventory management skills.

Essential Job Functions

• Contact vendors to obtain, compare, and analyze quotes and bids.

• Purchase goods, materials, supplies, and equipment according to predetermined specifications.

• Perform cycle counting to maintain accurate inventory levels.

• Review requisitions and obtain vendor and manufacturer representative information regarding price, product quality, service, and delivery times.

• Work with management and vendors regarding the quality of supplies, goods, and equipment, including the development and modification of purchasing specifications.

• Negotiate with vendors and manufacturer representatives to obtain advantageous pricing and purchasing terms.

• Follow up with vendors to finalize purchase order transactions.

• Maintain vendor, inventory, purchase order, and requisition records using manual and automated filing systems.

• Work with the Planner/Scheduler on job kitting for scheduled work.

• Review and monitor maintenance funds, including encumbrances and open purchase orders (P.O.s).

• Assist with questions regarding items to be purchased and quantities to be ordered.

Requirements

• Previous Buyer experience required.

• Purchasing or procurement experience, including vendor communication and negotiation.

• Ability to analyze quotes and bids and make purchasing decisions based on price, quality, service, and delivery.

• Experience with inventory management and cycle counting.

• Strong organizational and communication skills.

• Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate purchasing and inventory records.
