Physical Therapist I

Summary Assist patients in reaching maximum physical performance while adjusting to disabilities. Restores patient physical functioning by interpreting physical therapy evaluations and test results; determining treatment goals and plans; administering manual exercises; and instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities and using assistive and supportive devices. Graduation from an accredited physical therapy program is required. For licensure prior to 2016, a bachelor's or master's degree is acceptable; licensure from 2016 onward preferably is a completion of a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. Essential Functions Complete billing sheet accurately by end of day. Evaluate effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit. Perform patient assessment and establish a plan of care. Provide in-service education programs for nursing personnel as needed. Identify and document goals, anticipated progress, and plans for reevaluation. Discuss evaluation, goals, and treatment with both patient and family. Participate in hospital-wide quality process improvement. Supervise PTAs according to organization policy and state regulations. Education Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy required; Master’s Degree or Doctor of Physical Therapy preferred. Licenses and Credentials Physical Therapist [State License] – required. Class D Passenger Vehicle Driver's License – preferred. Experience 1–2 years completing internship or apprenticeship program preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of medical terminology. Excellent organizational skills. Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record systems. Effective written communication tailored to audience needs. Teaching others how to perform tasks. Excellent problem‑solving, case management, and communication skills. Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
