Job Description Harborview has an outstanding opportunity for a Maintenance Mechanic 2. WORK SCHEDULE 100% FTE Monday - Friday Day Shift DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION Harborview Facilities Engineering: Our goal is to respond in a timely manner to your building maintenance needs; to make alterations and repairs to the systems needed to maintain patient care and a healing environment at Harborview. POSITION HIGHLIGHTS Become a part of an exceptional team supporting mission-critical care at our region’s only Level 1 Trauma and Verified Burn center, and King County's “safety net” hospital. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBLIITIES Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on all types of mechanical equipment such as electrical drive motors, laundry, kitchen, and air-conditioning equipment; change oil, grease, change or clean filters, drive belts, sprockets, shafts, and bearings to ensure proper operation. Perform maintenance, operation, and repair of electrical, mechanical and structural systems of buildings and utility distribution. Operate hand and power tools in a skilled manner; fabricate material and equipment in workshops. Remodel and construct facilities in accordance with project requirements; assist in the preparation of engineering data under the direction of an engineer. Repair windows, doors, screens, floors, floor coverings, and painted surfaces; install, maintain, and repair electrical connections, switches, circuits, electrical equipment, thermostats, and valves. REQUIREMENTS Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a journey worker, OR full‑journey status in a union; OR four years’ applicable work experience. Vocational training may be substituted for work experience on a year‑for‑year basis. Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
