Ray & Joséphine has landed in the heart of Downtown San Antonio, and the doors are open. What started as an idea is now a real café with a real line of regulars, and we need great people behind the bar to keep the energy going. If you've been looking for a coffee job that actually feels like something — good coffee, good people, good vibe — this is it. ABOUT THE ROLE The Barista is the heart of our café experience. You'll craft exceptional coffee and beverage drinks, prepare and handle cold food items as needed, and create the kind of genuine hospitality that keeps guests coming back. This is a hands-on, team-first role that requires flexibility — you may be dialing in espresso one moment and plating a cold dish the next. That's the job, and we love it that way. WHAT YOU'LL DO Greet every guest warmly and create a welcoming atmosphere from the moment they walk in Prepare specialty espresso drinks, pour-overs, cold brew, teas, and seasonal beverages to exact recipe and quality standards Handle and serve cold food items — including grab-and-go options, light café fare, and catering-adjacent prep — safely and with care Stay sharp on our full menu and communicate product knowledge confidently to guests Accurately process orders and payments and manage your cash drawer following established procedures Maintain all equipment in clean, working order and flag any issues to management promptly Keep your station, the bar, and all guest-facing areas clean and organized throughout your shift Restock workstations, ingredients, supplies, and merchandise proactively — don't wait to be asked Support fellow team members and pitch in wherever the team needs you Follow all food safety and sanitation protocols at all times Assist with catering and events setup and breakdown as needed WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Genuine hospitality: you actually enjoy people, and it shows Flexibility: you're comfortable switching between café service, cold food prep, and support tasks without missing a beat Reliability: we count on each other — show up, be present, and do the work Attention to detail: quality and consistency matter in every drink and every interaction A team-first mindset: ego has no place here A hunger to learn: coffee craft has depth, and we love people who want to go deeper A brand-new café, built from the ground up around craft and community — be part of the crew that shapes what it becomes Flexible scheduling that works with school, family, or your side hustle Employee drinks and discounts, because you should love the coffee you're pouring too Real room to grow — from bar to shift lead to management, we promote from within A downtown San Antonio location with easy, accessible parking for the whole team REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma or equivalent Food Handler Manager Certification required (or must be obtained within 30 days of hire) — this role touches food and we hold ourselves to a high standard Experience in coffee, food & beverage, or customer service preferred — but passion and the right attitude can go a long way Must be available for flexible scheduling including mornings, weekends, and occasional events or catering shifts Ability to handle cold food safely and comfortably in a fast-paced café environment Basic math and cash-handling skills PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to stand and move for extended periods throughout a shift Comfortable with repetitive hand and arm movements (steaming milk, pulling shots, plating) Able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs (restocking supplies, beverage containers, catering items) Must be able to reach, bend, kneel, and stoop to access equipment and ingredients Ability to work in varying temperatures — near hot equipment and in refrigerated areas for cold food handling Clear verbal communication with guests and team members in a sometimes-noisy environment WORKING CONDITIONS You'll work primarily indoors in a vibrant, newly opened café in Downtown San Antonio. Shifts may include early mornings. Dress code and uniform guidelines will be provided. This is a physically active role — expect to be on your feet and engaged throughout your shift.
