Registered Nurse (RN) - PCU

Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Registered Nurse to join our team in a mixed acuity unit specializing in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Medical-Surgical Telemetry patients. The ideal candidate will have recent experience in PCU or Intermediate Care within the last three years. Ratios will be adjusted based on patient acuity.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a mixed acuity setting.
• Effectively monitor and interpret telemetry and dysrhythmias.
• Administer medications and manage intravenous (IV) therapies, including insulin and cardiac drips.
• Execute patient care protocols for various medical and surgical conditions.
• Perform essential procedures including phlebotomy, central line care, and feeding tube management.
• Ensure compliance with isolation precautions and wound care protocols.
• Document patient care accurately using EPIC and other documentation systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in a PCU or IMC setting.
• Must have current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.
• Telemetry experience necessary; ability to interpret and manage various cardiac conditions.
• Required skills include management of dysrhythmias, post-myocardial infarction care, and renal failure management.
• Preferred certifications include PALS and TCAR.

Work Schedule

• Shifts: Night shifts (4x12 hours, from 19:00 to 07:00)
• Flexibility for rotation and floating to corresponding sister units as needed.
• Weekend commitment required every other week.

Patient Population

This position covers a diverse patient demographic, including pre- and post-surgical patients across various specialties, including ENT, general surgery, trauma surgery, and orthopedic surgery.

Orientation and Onboarding

New hires will undergo a comprehensive 12-hour orientation program to ensure readiness for the role.

Special Equipment and Procedures

Candidates should be familiar with TCAR procedures and various respiratory support techniques, including CPAP/BIPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC).
