About the Job Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Job Description: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide primary healthcare services in a student-centered environment. The LPN will be responsible for assessing and treating minor illnesses and injuries, administering medications, promoting health education, and supporting students' overall physical and emotional well-being. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide primary nursing care for minor illnesses, injuries, dental concerns, and mental health needs.
- Conduct regularly scheduled sick calls and perform assessments, basic diagnoses, and treatments in accordance with physician standing orders.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and document all care accurately.
- Refer students to physicians, dentists, specialists, mental health providers, and community resources when appropriate.
- Provide follow-up care and communicate with students, parents/guardians, healthcare providers, and community agencies regarding treatment plans, test results, and ongoing care.
- Educate and counsel students on health topics, including personal hygiene, nutrition, disease prevention, pregnancy prevention, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), HIV prevention, and overall wellness.
- Support students' academic and vocational success by providing health-related counseling and guidance.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with applicable healthcare policies and procedures.
- Assist with emergency response and other health-related activities as needed.
- Transport students in government vehicles when required.
- Must meet the education requirements outlined in the Job Corps Policy and Requirements Handbook (PRH) .
- Current, unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state where services are provided.
- All required licenses, résumé, and professional liability insurance meeting the minimum coverage requirements must be submitted for approval before providing services.
- Department of Labor (DOL) approval is required.
- Ability to assess, treat, and educate patients in a clinical setting.
- Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Must have a valid driver's license and be able to transport students in government vehicles.
- Previous experience in primary care, school health, public health, or a similar setting is preferred.
