Trinity Washington University is seeking a Program Coordinator and Instructional Specialist for the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Pathway at the Ward 5 Advanced Technical Center (ATC), a high school dual enrollment program in the College of Arts & Sciences in consultation with the School of Nursing and Health Professions. Courses include Nursing 101 and Nursing 102. The ATC Program Coordinator and Instructional Specialist for the CNA will teach these courses at the ATC’s Penn Center, which is located at 1709 3rd St NE. The Advanced Technical Center is a partnership with the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) to provide DC high school students with the opportunity to complete dual enrollment pathways in Career and Technical Education fields such as health sciences and information technology. The ATC Program Coordinator and Instructional Specialist for the CNA will support the CAS dual enrollment students, with a regular course load and clinical rotations each semester, as well participate in summer training opportunities. This position is a full-time, all year around (12-month) professional staff position. ATC classes are held five days a week in a lecture/lab format. Responsibilities of the position include offering active and engaged instruction and significant hands-on learning experiences tailored to the needs the ATC student population; designing and delivering supplemental instruction for students needing additional support; playing an active role in instructional development; and assessing both student proficiency and student learning outcomes, using results to improve student placement and retention and continuously improve instruction. Qualifications Active Registered Nurse license (unencumbered) for the District of Columbia A Master's degree is required. Teaching experience in a CNA program preferred. Minimum of two-three years of clinical experience as a registered nurse, and Current knowledge of nursing practice at the nursing assistant level. Instructional Duties/Tasks Teaches assigned courses/clinicals. Provides classroom and course management in a manner that is consistent with professional conduct. Serves as advisor and keeps regular office hours. Meets regularly with the ATC instructional coach and submits timely lesson plans for review. Assists students outside of scheduled class times. Utilizes methods of instruction and teaching techniques that are appropriate to the fulfillment of course outcomes and objectives. Maintains accurate class rosters (attendance reports). Reports to ATC Administrator if issues arise. Maintains up-to-date gradebooks in both platforms, e.g., Schoology at ATC and Moodle at Trinity. Submits mid-term and final grades within submission deadline. Attends program meetings and workshops as scheduled. Notifies ATC Administrator and Associate Dean of any absences or alterations in the class schedule in advance and in writing, if possible. Reviews and recommends textbooks, reference materials, software, audio visual aids, and learning resources for classroom use. Develops appropriate and up-to-date curriculum plans. Maintains professional and technical knowledge through reading professional publications and attending workshops and conferences as appropriate. Has knowledge in working with students with disabilities and coordinating services. Other duties as assigned. Ensures the curriculum is coordinated and implemented in accordance with Chapter 96 of the DC Board of Nursing. Supervises full-time and part-time instructors within the program. Supports program goals and objectives, particularly with respect to career development within the nursing profession. Selects physical and affiliating clinical facilities. Recommends purchases of program supplies and equipment, as well as maintaining inventory of program equipment. Prepares necessary materials for regulatory agencies. Coordinating clinical rotations with the institution and preparing students for their rotations Provides for program evaluation and changes as necessary for program. Provides support for students CNA credentialing, e.g., testing, coordination and administrative requirements once certified. Work to certify the ATC in Ward 5 as a testing site and work with accrediting body. Maintains familiarity with standards and requirements of accrediting agencies. Official transcripts for all degrees earned, sample course syllabi, course evaluations and/or other evidence of teaching effectiveness, and contact information for three professional references will be needed if the candidate is invited to campus for an interview.
