Math Teacher

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Math Teacher to join our team at JPS South Central Michigan Virtual Options at Jackson High School. The ideal candidate will foster a positive learning environment, inspire students to develop a love for mathematics, and promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The Math Teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons, assessing student progress, and collaborating with colleagues to enhance the educational experience. Responsibilities Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum guidelines. Teach a variety of mathematical concepts, including but not limited to algebra, geometry, and statistics, to high school students. Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters a growth mindset. Assess and evaluate student performance through regular quizzes, tests, and assignments, providing timely feedback to promote improvement. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and technologies to enhance student learning and engagement. Collaborate with fellow teachers, administrators, and support staff to develop and implement school-wide initiatives and programs. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and guardians regarding academic progress and behavioral issues. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in mathematics education. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other relevant documentation. Supervise students during lunch, recess, and other school activities as needed. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field. Valid teaching certification or license in Mathematics for middle school. Proven experience as a Math Teacher or in a similar educational role preferred. Strong knowledge of middle school mathematics curriculum and instructional best practices. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff. Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
