Based in Troy, Pennsylvania, the company's operations focus on natural gas exploration, drilling, and production.ScopeThe Instrumentation and Electrical Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing instrumentation, electrical systems, communications systems, and measurement equipment at upstream oil and gas facilities near Troy, Pennsylvania. This position requires at least 10 years of measurement, communications, and electrical experience, including the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues involving field instrumentation, control systems, gas measurement equipment, and electrical systems. The technician will work independently and collaboratively to support safe and efficient operations while ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies.Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation and electrical equipment, including flow meters, pressure transmitters, temperature controllers, level sensors, and motor control centers.Diagnose and repair instrumentation, control circuit, and electrical system issues involving 24VDC controls, 120V AC controls, 480V motors, and switchgear up to 13.8kV.Operate and maintain natural gas measurement systems to ensure accurate data collection and compliance with applicable API and BLM standards.Calibrate and test gas meters, analyzers, and other measurement devices.Monitor and troubleshoot SCADA systems, PLCs, HMIs, and related field data-acquisition systems.Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance using data collectors, diagnostic software, and computerized maintenance management systems.Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, confined-space entry, and gas-monitoring requirements.Conduct gas-system safety inspections and respond to equipment malfunctions, gas leaks, and other field emergencies.Generate inspection reports, calibration logs, work records, and maintenance documentation.Use SAP to order spare parts and manage inventory.Support equipment commissioning, new installations, system upgrades, and capital expansion projects.Work closely with operations, engineering, field personnel, junior technicians, and contractors.Provide technical guidance to junior technicians and contractors.Participate in callout rotations and respond to after-hours emergencies as required.QualificationsMinimum 10 years of measurement and electrical experience within the upstream oil and gas industry.Extensive experience with field instrumentation, communications systems, control systems, gas measurement equipment, and electrical equipment.Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair flow, pressure, temperature, and level instrumentation.Experience troubleshooting VFDs, relays, motors, switchgear, and control circuits.Strong knowledge of natural gas measurement principles, gas meters, analyzers, calibration procedures, and applicable standards.Working knowledge of SCADA systems, PLCs, HMIs, and distributed control systems.Ability to read and interpret wiring schematics, P&IDs, and electrical single-line diagrams.Experience working with high-voltage systems up to 13.8kV and low-voltage controls, including 24VDC and 120V AC.High school diploma or GED required.Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving abilities.Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced field environment.Preferred QualificationsAssociate degree in electronics, instrumentation, or a related field, or equivalent training from a recognized trade or technical school.Experience supporting large-scale oil and gas capital expansion projects from feasibility through commissioning.Familiarity with upstream and midstream equipment, including compressors, metering systems, and process-control devices.Knowledge of API regulations related to natural gas measurement.Physical RequirementsAbility to work outdoors in rain, heat, cold, and other adverse weather conditions.Ability to work on uneven terrain.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.Flexibility to work weekends, overtime, and callout rotations as needed.Location and Travel Requirements The technician must currently reside, or be willing to relocate, within approximately 30 minutes of Troy, Pennsylvania. Regional travel may be required to support field operations.
