Family Practice/Primary Care Nurse Practitioner

Adelphi is seeking an Autonomous Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide examinations and preventive health services at a correctional facility in Virginia. The ideal candidate will be required to assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement care plans, and maintain medical records.

Requirements:
Active Virginia license
DEA certification
BLS/ACLS certification
Responsibilities: Works independently with minimal supervision to perform physical examinations and preventive health measures.
Responds to and initiates care for medical emergencies throughout the facility.
Order and perform diagnostic procedures.
Prescribe controlled substances and devices in accordance with current regulations.
Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
Provides education to patient, healthcare, and correctional staff.
Additional duties as assigned by facility.
Contacts are made with patients in the provision of care and more limited contact with physicians for their consultation.
