CRISIS INTERVENTION SPECIALIST

Job Title: Crisis Intervention Specialist Full Time Responsibilities The school crisis plan Responding to students in crisis Environmental action plans Provision of regular CPI/Verbal de-escalation training and daily debriefing Consultation with teachers and paraprofessionals on improvement of classroom management and transition based on data collected through CARES scanning or crisis documentation The CIS will also be available to provide individual student care support, effectively review and modify student Behavior Intervention Plans, coordinate and input school crisis data for team review, and be available as a resource with IEP development and district IEP meetings. This position will be a strong link between the Risk Management/Performance Improvement department in regards to intervention review, follow-up processing and training. Qualifications A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required. Knowledge of educational, child development and classroom teaching/management theories with a good understanding of educational and therapeutic interventions is preferred. Qualification as a certified CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) trainer is preferred. Minimum of two years in a behavioral support team role is required. I.S.B.E. Paraprofessional certificate and an ISBE Substitute teacher – Type 39 certificate are required. Primary Source Verification is required. Benefits Health, Dental, and Vision
