We are seeking a highly experienced, versatile, and self-motivated Senior Industrial Maintenance Technician to take ownership of equipment maintenance, facility repairs, and continuous improvement projects throughout our manufacturing operation.

About the Position

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced maintenance professional who enjoys both the technical and practical sides of problem-solving.

We are not looking for someone who simply waits for instructions or performs repairs assigned by others. We need an individual who can independently evaluate a problem, determine the best course of action, research solutions, coordinate resources, and personally execute the work.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable troubleshooting a CNC machine, communicating with equipment manufacturers, researching replacement components, developing a repair plan, and performing general facility maintenance.

This position offers considerable independence and direct involvement in planning, purchasing recommendations, technical decisions, and hands-on execution. The successful candidate will report directly to company leadership and work closely with production personnel.

Key Responsibilities

Industrial Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain CNC machining centers, CNC lathes, and other industrial equipment.
• Perform electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting.
• Identify equipment failures, determine root causes, and develop practical repair solutions.
• Communicate directly with equipment manufacturers and technical support personnel to diagnose issues and obtain technical information.
• Research replacement parts, verify specifications and compatibility, obtain quotations, and present repair recommendations for management approval.
• Perform preventive maintenance and identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability.

Maintenance Planning & Project Ownership

• Independently evaluate maintenance needs and develop actionable plans to address them.
• Determine required materials, tools, labor, and resources before beginning work.
• Coordinate with production management to schedule repairs while minimizing manufacturing downtime.
• Manage multiple maintenance and improvement projects simultaneously.
• Maintain organized records of repairs, equipment issues, parts requirements, and project progress.
• Communicate project status, anticipated costs, and potential obstacles to management.
• Follow through on assigned projects from initial evaluation through successful completion.

Facility Maintenance & General Repairs

• Perform a wide variety of hands-on facility maintenance tasks, including minor electrical repairs, plumbing, lighting, doors, fixtures, and general building upkeep.
• Install, relocate, modify, and maintain shop equipment and supporting infrastructure.
• Complete miscellaneous maintenance tasks necessary to keep a small manufacturing operation running efficiently.
• Recognize when specialized contractors or outside services are required and assist in coordinating their work.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, shop organization, safety, and manufacturing efficiency.
• Design and implement practical solutions to recurring equipment and facility problems.
• Assist with equipment installations, modifications, upgrades, and shop layout improvements.
• Take initiative in recommending improvements rather than waiting for problems to develop.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience , preferably in a machine shop or manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated experience repairing industrial machinery.
• Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting, including motors, controls, sensors, relays, and industrial electrical systems.
• Working knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals.
• Experience independently diagnosing equipment problems and developing repair plans.
• Ability to research and specify replacement components using technical documentation and manufacturer support.
• Basic computer proficiency, including email, online parts research, documentation, and spreadsheets.
• Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
• Ability and willingness to perform both complex equipment repairs and routine facility maintenance.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision while keeping management informed.
• Commitment to safe work practices, including lockout/tagout and appropriate electrical safety procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience maintaining or repairing Mazak CNC machinery or similar CNC equipment.
• Familiarity with CNC controls, servo systems, drives, spindle systems, and machine lubrication systems.
• Experience with equipment installation, rigging coordination, and machinery relocation.
• Experience developing preventive maintenance programs.
• Fabrication, welding, or machining experience.
• Previous experience coordinating maintenance projects, vendors, or outside contractors.
