Data Engineer Semi Senior

We are looking for our next Data Engineer Semi Senior, who will perform the migration of exploratory environments to Bundles. For this role, you must have the ability to work together with the business in the development and validation of internal processes. The role of Data Engineer exists to transform raw data into reliable and strategic data assets, enabling a data-driven culture, where decisions are supported by data. You will design, implement and maintain robust and scalable pipelines, allowing data to be available in a timely manner, clean, secure and structured, so that it can be used by analysts, product teams, business and data science.

Key Responsibilities

1. Migrate and organize loose code: Take the SQL queries and informal scripts created by the analysis teams and translate them into clean, structured and automated models within Dataform.
2. Build and automate the "Bundles": Package the code of the pipelines together with their configurations to automatically deploy to production using GitLab CI/CD and Terraform, eliminating manual steps.
3. Validate the data hand in hand with the business: Work directly with the users who use the data to understand their needs, resolve doubts and ensure together that the new tables reflect the real logic of the business.
4. Accelerate development using AI (Claude/GPT): Use artificial intelligence assistants through Prompt Engineering to optimize slow queries, quickly document code and generate automatic quality tests.
5. Optimize performance in BigQuery: Apply partitioning and clustering techniques in tables to ensure that user queries are fast, efficient and do not generate unnecessary costs in the cloud.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

1. Advanced SQL: For database management and the creation of complex queries.
2. Dataform: (Exclusive) for performing the migration of data processes.
3. BigQuery: As a cloud-based database engine and storage and optimization (Partitioning & Clustering).
4. Components of Google Cloud Platform (GCP): Particularly the management of Cloud Storage for the storage of data files.
5. Git and GitLab CI/CD: Mandatory for code version control and automation of Bundle deployments.
6. Prompt Engineering (Claude / GPT): Proven ability to use generative AI tools (OpenAI API/SDK or Vertex AI) as support to accelerate and optimize code writing.
7. Medallion Architecture: Knowledge of layered modeling patterns to structure data in a clean and organized way.
8. Effective Communication and Feedback: Crucial to interact directly with user areas.
9. Business Understanding: Ability to understand internal processes and validate data together with the business with analytical criteria.
10. Collaboration and Problem Solving: To integrate on the fly in the team and unblock the migration of exploratory environments.
