Role Description The Sales Associate role is a part-time, on-site position based at Portland Gear’s Flagship location in Portland, OR. This team member engages customers on the sales floor, provides product knowledge, and delivers a welcoming, inclusive shopping experience aligned with the brand’s community-focused values. Day-to-day responsibilities include greeting customers, answering questions, processing sales transactions, handling returns and exchanges, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment. The Sales Associate assists with merchandising displays, restocking inventory, and supporting in-store events or promotions. This role also contributes to building long-term customer relationships by sharing brand stories, encouraging community engagement, and ensuring consistent, high-quality service. Qualifications Customer service and retail sales skills, including the ability to engage shoppers, understand needs, and recommend products effectively. Cash handling and point-of-sale (POS) system experience, with attention to accuracy in transactions, returns, and exchanges. Visual merchandising and store presentation skills, such as organizing displays, maintaining stock levels, and keeping the store tidy and inviting. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with team members and interact respectfully with a diverse customer base. Reliability in attendance, ability to work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends, and holidays), and comfort in a fast-paced retail environment. Interest in apparel, travel gear, and Portland Gear’s brand story; prior retail or apparel experience is beneficial but not required. Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move merchandise, and follow safety and loss-prevention guidelines. #J-18808-Ljbffr
