Intake Specialist

Intake Specialist Location: Frederick, MD | Shift: Monday‑Friday 8 am‑5 pm Job Summary Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits for prospective referrals, determines rate requirements for in‑ or out‑of‑network coverage, obtains authorizations, negotiates rates, and manages authorizations and workload to ensure timely completion. Responsibilities Verify insurance eligibility and benefits of prospective referrals. Determine rate requirements as it relates to in‑ or out‑of‑network coverage. Obtain all necessary authorizations from payers for services requested. Initiate one‑time letters of agreement (LOAs) and negotiate rates according to established policies. Recognize payer changes that could affect authorization and elevate to leadership when needed. Manage work assignments to ensure all tasks and coordination notes are completed promptly. Coordinate and communicate with the branch location regarding payer changes or updates. Document and communicate patient deductible, out‑of‑pocket expense, lifetime maximum, benefit days, patient responsibility, and other benefits to the agency accurately. Document authorization details, including effective and end dates, in the software application via patient notes, authorizations, tasks, workflow, phone calls, and email. Review and respond to branch location's urgent requests swiftly and accurately. Open to individuals with varying experience provided they are comfortable with computers. Must be dependable, possess strong customer‑service orientation, and demonstrate a willingness to learn. Must pass all required background and eligibility checks. Proven ability to meet or exceed productivity metrics as outlined in policy. Ability to navigate multiple monitors and use Microsoft Office efficiently. Employment Type & Compensation Contract position based in Mt Airy, MD. Pay range: $18.00‑$19.00 per hour.
