Essential Duties and Responsibilities Teach district approved curriculum. Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district. Develop lesson plans and instructional material and provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil. Translate lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences. Communicate regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere. Evaluate students' academic and social growth, keeping appropriate records and preparing progress reports. Identify student needs and make appropriate referrals and develop strategies for individual education plans. Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day. Plan and coordinate the work of teacher aides, parents, and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips. Provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the student. Create an environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, interest centers, and exhibits of student work. Maintain good rapport with students, employees, community members, and vendors. Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Perform other job related duties as assigned. Education and Certification Valid Arizona teaching certificate. Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC). Knowledge of Reading and interpreting general documents such as employee handbooks and safety/training manuals. Writing general correspondence and speaking effectively with others. Adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Principles and practices of program administration. Basic principles and applications of critical thinking and analysis. Best practices, trends and emerging technologies. Principles and techniques of effective oral presentations. Uses and properties of supplies and equipment. Specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment. Skills Applying reason to research and solving moderately complex issues with little or no assistance. Interpreting an assortment of instructions furnished in variable forms. Performing basic original research to assist with developing teaching plans and instructional materials. Maintaining and updating documentation. Organizing and maintaining records, files and program information. Gathering data, analyzing findings and applying logic and reasoning. Authoring and preparing official reports, documents and presentations. Researching industry trends, solutions and best practices. Maintaining confidentiality. Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications. Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. ADA and Other Requirements Positions in this class require stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
