Job OpportunitySchedule: 7 AM to 7 PM, every other weekend, and every other holiday.Job DescriptionThe selected candidate will be responsible for a range of nursing duties that include the assessment and reassessment of patient care. This role involves planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing interventions and plans of care to ensure optimal patient outcomes.Essential FunctionsAssess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions and patient care goals.Provide patient care according to established standards of care, practice, protocols, and policies.Respect patients as individuals, fostering dignity and positive self-regard.Conduct patient and family teaching based on identified learning needs and readiness to learn.Collaboratively plan for patient discharge, integrating necessary support systems and resources.Delegate and supervise nursing interventions performed by others appropriately.Prioritize patient care effectively, seeking assistance and reassigning responsibilities when needed.Document all pertinent data and therapeutic interventions in a timely and accurate manner.Provide comprehensive reports on assigned patients to ensure service integration and continuity of care.Promote learning for colleagues and self through mentorship and professional development.Identify risks to patient safety and opportunities to reduce healthcare errors; report incidents appropriately.Address ethical issues in care and develop plans for resolution.Safely administer medications and intravenous therapy in accordance with physician orders and protocols.Assess and reassess patient pain levels and document responses to pain management interventions.Implement triage protocols based on initial patient assessments upon arrival.Recognize patients at risk for potential abuse and initiate safety plans as necessary.Complete mandated reporting for incidents such as domestic violence or abuse in a timely manner.Collect and document forensic evidence per established policy.Maintain knowledge of disaster policies and procedures.Identify patients at risk for violent behavior and implement appropriate non-violent interventions.Monitor and document restraint usage according to established guidelines.Recognize and respond to abnormal laboratory and diagnostic results in a timely manner.Administer vasoactive medications safely, demonstrating knowledge of dosages and effects.Accurately identify cardiac arrhythmias and respond as necessary.Monitor and document standards for thrombolytic and anticoagulation therapy.Demonstrate skills in the care of intubated patients, including suctioning and troubleshooting.Interpret arterial blood gases and other indicators of respiratory function effectively.Manage medication reconciliation documentation for use by the attending physician.Implement components of the Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia (VAP) bundle consistently and report deviations.Other DutiesThis job description outlines the primary responsibilities of the role; however, it is not an exhaustive list of all tasks and functions. Employees may be required to perform job-related duties beyond those explicitly stated.Functional DemandsPhysical requirements include the ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The role includes frequent reaching, handling, and feeling, along with occasional stooping and kneeling.Job RequirementsMinimum Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.Minimum Work Experience: 3-5 years of experience in the Emergency Department preferred.Licenses and Certifications: Current Registered Nurse license in Massachusetts.ACLS upon hire; or hold an active BLS certification and obtain AHA ACLS within 60 days of hire.AHA PALS within six months of hire; TNCC, ENPC, and CEN certifications preferred.
