About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:45 - 07:15) Experience: 1 year of specialty experience required License: RN License (state or compact) Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: - Antepartum trained to float to Labor & Delivery with fetal monitoring experience - Patient Ratio Experience (1:3 couplets, or up to 6 patients) Description: RN needed for Mother-Baby/Couplet Care/Post Partum. Shifts will include nights with various days of the week. Candidates must have a minimum of 1 year of experience in the specialty. This is a high-risk patient population unit. Patients include postpartum patients who do not need ICU level of care. Newborn patients who do not need NICU level of care are also included. Care includes 2000g and above, late preterm, and substance-exposed newborns. The role requires familiarity with administering magnesium sulfate, insulin drips, and heparin drips. Experience with PCA and PCEA pumps is also required. Breastfeeding support for postpartum patients is an essential part of the role. Charting will be done using a specified electronic system. The unit features a total of 32 beds. Typical staffing ratios are 1 nurse to 3 couplets or up to 6 patients. Floating will be required to assist on Labor & Delivery as needed. Call will be required based on unit needs. Weekend coverage will be required according to unit needs. Travel experience is essential for consideration. Candidate will provide high-quality nursing care and patient education. This position includes responsibilities such as discharge teaching, assessment of newborns, and care for postpartum mothers. Skills required include administration of medications, infant identification, and support for breastfeeding practices.
