Patient Care Tech

Perform patient care tasks and duties that do not require a license Support ongoing care delivery as part of the unit-based team in the F6 Medical Specialties Unit Work under the direct supervision of Registered Nurses Obtain patient reports and communicate with R.N.s regarding patient care and changes in condition Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges Transport patients to other hospital areas Carry out delegated plans of care using a multidisciplinary approach Communicate with team members and follow delegated patient care activities Provide grooming, oral hygiene, comfort measures, ambulation, chair transfers, turning, and repositioning assistance Document patient care activities, vital signs, ADLs, wave tests, and intake/output accurately and timely Assist patients and visitors with information and problem resolution Notify appropriate staff of problems requiring prompt intervention Complete five weeks of Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM training after hire Perform other duties as assigned Requirements High School Diploma/GED Successful completion of patient care technician course within 3 months of hire Excellent communication skills Ability to follow oral instructions Basic computer skills Strong work ethics and accountability Ability to lift 100 lbs. to waist height Must pass the required competencies Must be fitted for, capable of donning and performing routine tasks in N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR) Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment Three professional references and resume Subject to pre-employment screening, including criminal background, drug testing, and/or education verification Core Competencies Demonstrates proficiency in patient care tasks, effective communication, and teamwork within a medical unit.
