ATE Mechanical Engineer As a ATE Mechanical Engineer at Lunar, you will be responsible for the full product development lifecycle of mechanical systems within our revolutionary home energy products. We’re a fast-growing, global company building the world’s best clean energy products to electrify all homes and connect communities to form clean, resilient virtual power plants.On a given day at Lunar, you’ll likely…Work back and forth with collaborators across the company to continuously refine and improve our understanding of how our products can create the greatest impact, get to market quickly, and operate reliably for our customersBrainstorm and evaluate new solutions, weigh pros and cons, and narrow down optionsEfficiently test ideas and designs: anything from back-of-the-envelope calculations to physical tests and multi-physics simulationsDesign high-performance, reliable, easy-to-manufacture parts and assemblies, employing a variety of high-volume manufacturing processesCreate and review drawings and other part specificationsManage bills of materials, cost and mass roll-ups, vendors and engineering releasesDefine manufacturing processes and inspection methodsCollaborate directly with part manufacturers to support prototypes and productionDesired Skills/ExperienceMechanical DesignExtensive experience in 3D Modeling software (e.g. Onshape, NX, Solidworks)Knowledge of how to make a PCBA Bed of Nails fixture.Detailed knowledge of 2D Drawing creation and GD&TAbility to analyze designs using Tolerance Analysis/Stackup, Statics/Load Path Analysis, Finite Element Analysis, Root Cause Analysis and Design Failure Modes and Effect AnalysisFamiliarity with electronic test equipment and basic electromechanical troubleshootingExperience with test fixtures, jigs, and various mechanical components for high cycle count.Experience with fine pitch assemblies and construction.Should be able to conduct strain gauge measurements and understand stress on PCBAs and incorporate proper design to avoid it.Experience with PCBA management such as Mechanical Control Outline generationWorking knowledge of pneumatic cylinders and control methodsWorking knowledge of Thermal Management techniques Prototyping skills using 3D printing, machining, sheet metal bending, laser cutting, milling and general machine shop toolsManage suppliers for all the parts which are required for our station construction.Manufacturing SupportExperience communicating with component suppliers including Design for Manufacturing report review, First Article Inspection, and Part Production Approval Process Ability to generate Work Instructions for electromechanical assembliesKnowledge of Process Failure Modes and Effects AnalysisCreate preventive maintenance documentation.Extensive experience with Onsite Build Support at domestic and international contract manufacturing sites .
