Job Title: Med Surg/Tele Registered Nurse

- Acute care experience with complex patients.
- Comfort with drips and titrating medications.
- Prefer prior travel experience.


Description:
The Med Surg/Tele Registered Nurse will work in a unit focused on infusion and oncology patients.

The department includes a total of 27 beds.

The nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 for days/evenings and 1:6 for nights.

Common diagnoses for patients include oncology/hematology, general medical issues, GI bleed, PE/DVT, sepsis, CHF, COPD, pneumonia, and failure to thrive.

While oncology or chemotherapy knowledge is not required, experience with titratable drips, such as insulin, heparin, cardizem, nitro, amiodarone, and octreotide, is essential.

Blood transfusions will also be part of the responsibilities, and the nurse must be comfortable managing and titrating drips as needed.

Nurses will have centralized tele techs available to monitor and read strips, although they are expected to be tele aware.

Charge nurses and house supervisors will be present on all shifts, with charge nurses taking a modified patient assignment.

Nurse aides will provide assistance, with ratios of 1:7-9 on days/evenings and 1:14 overnight.

Respiratory therapy oversees multi-units and is in-house 24/7, assisting with continuous CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow O2.

Scheduling will accommodate traveler requests but cannot guarantee block scheduling.

There is a weekend requirement of every other weekend, along with holiday requirements of 2/3 during winter and every other during other times.

Floating will be required primarily within med-surg units, with exceptions for observer needs or tasking.


The dress code is scrubs of any color, provided there are no logos from other health systems.


All clinicians must clock in and out of the facility.
