Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 16-bed CV Neuro ICU at a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Manage and titrate vasoactive drips including Norepinephrine, Epinephrine, Phenylephrine, Dopamine, and Vasopressin
• Independently read and interpret cardiac monitor strips using Philips telemetry equipment (no monitor techs on unit)
• Care for patients with complex neurological and critical care diagnoses including stroke, ICH, SAH, ARDS, septic shock, and acute respiratory failure
• Operate and monitor respiratory therapy equipment including mechanical ventilators, HFNC, BiPAP, and CPAP
• Must successfully pass an ECG exam on Day 2 of assignment (pass/fail)

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in Virginia
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience
• Ability to independently read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
• Willingness to fulfill holiday requirements: 1 major and 1 minor holiday per year

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a Neuro ICU or cardiovascular ICU setting
• Familiarity with neurological diagnoses such as subarachnoid hemorrhage, intracerebral hemorrhage, and acute ischemic stroke
• Experience managing patients on multiple simultaneous vasoactive infusions
• Comfort working in a high-acuity environment with limited ancillary monitoring support
