Essential Functions Perform and conduct a variety of diagnostic radiology procedures on patients using operating radiographic equipment, including diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures to reach a medical diagnosis and decision. Perform routine and non‑complex diagnostic imaging procedures such as bone age and surveys, G‑Tube check bedside, Scan‑o‑gram/Leg Length, scoliosis, shunt series, OR foreign body, portable, fluoroscopy, radiation protection, student instructions, pregnancy testing, and wet reading. Perform routine/non‑complex fluoroscopy exams including Portacaths and intussusceptions. Perform moderate‑to‑complex diagnostic imaging procedures, protocols and exams (iCAT Modality). Prepare patients for diagnostic radiology exams, explain procedures, ensure that patient screening is properly completed, safely transport patients to imaging equipment, properly position patients, and assist patients upon completion of exams; complete exams within the required timeframe. Troubleshoot equipment problems and, when necessary, report to the proper personnel for repair. Utilize ancillary equipment appropriately: PACS system, laser camera, MedRad power injector, IDXRad, and Invivo monitor. Use appropriate techniques and equipment for accurate diagnosis, as instructed by department leaders and radiologists. Ensure consistent and reliable imaging results and verify that images meet required diagnostic standards. Explain procedures, verify forms, transport patients safely, position them correctly, and provide any post‑exam instructions within specified timeframes. Report major problems for repair and properly utilize ancillary equipment such as imaging coils, transducers, power injectors, and monitors. Maintain essential paperwork and records, documenting charges and statistical codes for labor and supplies used. Record and promptly escalates any incidents related to patient safety, equipment malfunctions, and other relevant categories. Assist in protocoling, forecasting, and preparation for diagnostic imaging cases by following department standard operating procedures; may serve as a preceptor for radiologic technologists in training. Maintain a clean, safe, and efficiently operating department through assigned duties and responsibilities. Report abnormal findings, artifacts, and adverse events to the relevant radiologist or department leader for further evaluation and action. Adhere to modality‑specific protocols and monitor radiation dose levels during imaging procedures. Test and calibrate equipment to maintain image quality standards. Explain exams thoroughly to patients and their families, promptly addressing concerns and providing reassurance during procedures. Stay current with advancements in radiologic technology, patient care, and department‑specific techniques. Handle patient data and images in compliance with privacy regulations, ensuring confidentiality and security. Respond to emergency situations within the department, such as contrast reactions or patient distress. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and effective teamwork. Promote a positive and enjoyable work environment by encouraging camaraderie and fun within the department. Assist in department onboarding of radiology students, house staff, or others in diagnostic imaging procedures, protocols, and safety issues. Bill all procedures performed and maintain necessary paperwork. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Education: Associate Degree in an applicable field (e.g., diagnostic imaging). Experience: Three (3) years of progressive responsibility and directly related work experience. License/Certification: Required: Registered Technologist – Radiography ARRT(R) from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) by the State of California Department of Health (CDPH). Certified Radiologic Technologist Fluoroscopy (RTF) by the State of California Department of Health (CDPH). Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA). Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Demonstrates the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with diverse individuals at all levels. Shows the capacity to follow written and oral instructions while continuously learning and adapting to new procedures and tasks. Proficiently performs a range of general and specialized diagnostic procedures to meet quality standards. Capably identifies and resolves equipment issues, documents problems, and communicates them effectively. Collaborates effectively within a team environment, contributing to group dynamics and achieving common goals. Possesses knowledge of computer systems and relevant software in the functional area. Demonstrates knowledge of medical imaging principles, techniques, and equipment. Proficient in patient and equipment positioning for imaging procedures. Understands the principles of image processing and development applicable to diagnostic imaging. Recognizes and follows safety principles and procedures related to imaging procedures and equipment, prioritizing patient and staff safety. Additional Information Pay Range Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role. Salary within our ranges may also be determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and other factors. Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range. Minimum to Midpoint Range (Hourly): $69.23 to $77.66.
