Are you an experienced Legal Billing Specialist looking for the flexibility of a fully remote position while joining a well-established, collaborative law firm?

Our client is seeking a Legal Billing Specialist to join its Accounting team. This position is responsible for managing the billing cycle from pre-bill through invoice submission, working closely with attorneys and internal teams to ensure invoices are accurate, timely, and compliant with client billing requirements.

Prior legal billing experience within a law firm is required. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, comfortable managing multiple billing deadlines, and confident communicating directly with attorneys regarding billing matters.

What You'll Do

• Generate, review, and edit client pre-bills for accuracy.
• Coordinate pre-bill distribution and follow up with attorneys for edits, approvals, and timely processing.
• Prepare, review, and submit client invoices according to specific billing requirements.
• Monitor invoice status and resolve missing information, discrepancies, and delays.
• Respond to attorney and client billing questions and requests.
• Review Work in Process (WIP) aging monthly and follow up to ensure matters are billed promptly.
• Partner with billing attorneys, Accounting/Finance, and internal teams to resolve billing issues.
• Maintain accurate and organized billing records and supporting documentation.
• Assist with special projects and additional billing needs as required.

What We're Looking For

• Legal billing experience is required.
• 2-3+ years of billing experience within a law firm environment preferred.
• Strong understanding of legal billing practices, terminology, billing cycles, and attorney/client billing requirements.
• Experience managing complex or high-volume billing.
• Experience with Aderant preferred; experience with other legal billing/accounting platforms will also be considered.
• Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with attorneys, clients, and colleagues.
• Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a remote environment while remaining highly collaborative and responsive.
• Strong customer-service mindset with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
