Staff Systems EngineerThe Staff Systems Engineer performs requirements analysis and management, technical planning, systems level design, systems integration, verification and validation, cost and risk management, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Also performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into systems specifications. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal. Ensure the logistical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total system solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints. The Systems Engineer will provide guidance in the development of new defense systems and components functioning as part of a System / Integrated Product Team.Responsibilities and Tasks:Perform requirements management, analysis, and allocations on complex systems designLead complex systems level architecture design and perform system level modeling and simulation.Lead cost estimates to support engineering activities.Execute program while providing technical leadership.Recommend tools to improve systems engineering design of a product and procedures.Develop systems specifications, master test plans, and other necessary artifacts.Provide inputs into the integrated master schedules and track program progress.Assist in verification and validation responsibilities.Fully understand internal systems engineering procedures and mentor entry level engineers.Lead and execute transition of technologies from R&D/advanced concepts into production or program baselines.Lead and execute Software/hardware integration, including leading these efforts.Lead and execute debug and troubleshoot multifunctional systems.Lead and execute live-fire testing, development of test plans and procedures, safety documentation.Other related duties assigned by supervisor.Education, Experience, License, or Certification:Bachelor's degree is requiredMaster's degree is preferredSpecific Degree Field Required: Aerospace, Software/Computer Science, Electrical, Electronic, Electro-Optical, Mechanical, or other applicable technical discipline14+ years of relevant professional experience in the systems engineering fieldEligible to obtain Security ClearanceAdvanced DOORS requirements management training (preferred)Systems Engineering Simulation and Modeling concepts (preferred)Systems Engineering methods, tools, and proceduresTraining Pre-requisites (Within One Year of Taking Position): System Engineering requirements and architecture development toolsCameo - system engineering modelingSafety Training, as dictated by Safety Department or required by programSkills and Abilities:Experience working with ground combat systems, military vehicle architectures, mission systems, or survivability subsystemsExperience with requirements management, integration, testExperience working on defense systems – especially safety critical systems (preferred)Prior leadership of integration events, field tests, or cross ? organizational technical transitionsDOORS requirements management tool suiteCameo or equivalent for Model Based System EngineeringMicrosoft Office including the use of Excel and other desktop toolsMicrosoft ProjectsSystems level analysis tools such as Mathlab, Matlab or equivalentSystems level block diagram capture tools such as VisioOther related systems engineering toolsStrong communication skillsSkilled and confident presenterTravel/Physical Requirements:15 % travel requiredThis is an onsite positionHere Are Some of the Great Benefits We Offer:Most locations offer a 9/80 schedule, providing every other Friday offCompetitive compensation & 401(k) program to plan for your futureRobust medical, dental, vision, & disability coverage with qualified wellness discountsBasic Life Insurance and Additional Life & AD&D Insurances are availableFlexible Vacation & PTOPaid Parental LeaveGenerous Employee Referral ProgramVoluntary Benefits Available: Longer Term Care, Legal, Identity Theft, Pet Insurance, and moreVoluntary Tricare Supplement available for military retireesThis job description does not list all the duties of the job.
