Overnight / 3rd Shift

Full-Time | Set Schedule | Roxboro, NC

Overnight direct care is a lot more than being there while everyone sleeps.

We're hiring a full-time overnight DSP to support adults with significant medical and personal-care needs in one of our residential homes. The people who live there need staff who are attentive, capable and comfortable providing hands-on care throughout the night.

A set schedule you can actually plan around

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday: 11:00 p.m. - 9:00 a.m.

Every other Saturday: 9:00 p.m. - 9:00 a.m.

33 hours one week / 39 hours the next

Opportunities may also be available to pick up additional shifts or hours for employees who want them.

Starting Pay: $15.00+ per hour
Higher starting rates may be available based on experience and placement.

There are naturally slower stretches during an overnight shift, but this is an awake, working position . Residents may need assistance with personal care, repositioning, toileting, medications, health concerns and other needs during the night. You'll also help prepare the home and the people we support for a good start to the next day.

What the night actually involves

• Provide direct, hands-on personal care based on each person's individual needs
• Monitor residents and recognize changes in medical condition, behavior or overall well-being
• Administer medications and treatments after completing required training and certification
• Follow physician orders, care instructions and Individual Service Plans
• Assist with transfers, positioning, mobility and other physical support as needed
• Complete required overnight documentation accurately and promptly
• Perform routine household responsibilities and help maintain a safe, comfortable home
• Communicate important information to incoming staff and appropriate clinical personnel

One important thing about residential work:

A scheduled shift end time is not an automatic walk-out-the-door time. Staff remain responsible for coverage until relief has arrived, the transition is complete and important changes, concerns and updates have been clearly communicated to the people taking over. Good handoffs are part of good care.

This position is especially well suited for someone who is observant, steady and comfortable taking responsibility when fewer people are around. Experience in direct care, healthcare, assisted living, long-term care, I/DD services or another hands-on caregiving setting is helpful, although we provide the training required for the position.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent , be legally eligible to drive in North Carolina and be willing to drive an agency vehicle when needed. The position requires the ability to lift up to 35 pounds independently and assist with transfers of individuals weighing up to 250 pounds.
