Lead Histotechnologist | Anatomical Pathology

Lead Histotechnologist – Anatomical Pathology Oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the Histology Laboratory, managing a high‑volume environment averaging 400 blocks daily. Work with Histology Assistants, Pathologists’ Assistants, Pathologist, Pathology Secretaries, Cytotechnologist, and lab management to ensure efficient workflow and accurate slide preparation for complex testing. Support management decision‑making, communicate non‑compliance, and delegate tasks to staff. Responsibilities Perform tissue fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy, H&E and special staining, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and informatics activities. Support rapid diagnosis via freezing, cryomicrotomy, and staining in a stat environment. Implement and oversee quality control monitoring, instrument maintenance, preventative maintenance scheduling, troubleshooting, proficiency testing, and SOP development. Coordinate with other pathology team members to ensure patient care continuity. Delegate tasks to staff and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a science field. Minimum 4 years of current or previous healthcare, laboratory, or research experience. 6 months recent experience as a histology technician in a comparable high‑volume hospital lab. ASCP Histotechnician or Histotechnologist certification required. Strong fine‑motor skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. Self‑starter, problem‑solver, and effective communicator. Schedule & Compensation 36 scheduled weekly hours (0.9FTE). Monday‑Friday, 5:30a.m. – 8a.m. with call rotation. Starting pay $30.73 per hour, commensurate with experience, and shift differentials. Benefits Competitive hourly rate and shift differentials.
