Associate Litigation Counsel

Corporate Counsel – Potential locations: Chicago, IL, USA; Austin, TX, USA; Washington D.C., DC, USA. Required Experience: 3 years of attorney-level experience in government, in-house, or at a law firm. Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., registered in‑house status) in the state where the position is located. Preferred Qualifications Experience in litigation including examining and defending witnesses, verbal argument, and trial experience. Experience in privacy and consumer class actions and content moderation and intermediary liability issues. Knowledge of Google products and the broader technology industry. Knowledge of privacy, consumer protection, antitrust, contract, content moderation/safety, or IP law issues in a technology context. Excellent written and verbal communication and leadership skills. About the role As Corporate Counsel at Google, you will work on the most exciting legal issues as disruptive technological innovations require creative and proactive legal guidance. You are part of a highly skilled in‑house legal team that partners with product, engineering, and business leaders across the company to identify and mitigate legal risks, advise on product development, and shape policy. You will proactively assess risks, provide pre‑litigation counseling, and develop strategies to protect Google’s interests in a rapidly evolving technology landscape. Individual pay is determined by factors including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. US: $217,000 - $315,000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + bonus + equity + benefits. Responsibilities Manage all aspects of litigation and provide pre‑litigation counseling to internal teams. Work with legal, product, engineering, and business team members to provide counseling on existing and potential litigation. Collaborate with cross‑functional partners across Google to advise on litigation risk and the status of Google’s docket. Partner with outside counsel to develop strategy to manage and win lawsuits. Collaborate with other external in‑house counsel and legal organizations on litigation and policy matters that affect Google’s docket.
