Join a 13-week travel nursing assignment as a Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (Med/Surg RN) on a busy Surgical Acute unit in Peoria, IL. Travel RN Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130–$2,250
• Assignment Type: Travel nursing contract
• Start Date: November 9, 2026
• End Date: February 8, 2027
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Location: Peoria, Illinois
• Unit: Surgical Acute / Medical-Surgical
• Schedule: 36 guaranteed hours per week, typically three 12-hour shifts
• Shift: 12-hour nights, approximately 7:30 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, including Saturday and Sunday
• Holiday Requirement: Rotating every other holiday
• Call Requirement: None
• Charting: EPIC
• Orientation: Two precepted shifts plus one 12-hour professional, EPIC, and unit orientation shift

Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license in Illinois, or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• At least 1 year of recent Medical-Surgical or acute-care nursing experience; post-operative experience strongly preferred
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Strong clinical judgment, critical-thinking skills, and the ability to recognize when additional support is needed
• Experience with post-operative care, wound care, dressing changes, drains, nasogastric tubes, central lines, TPN, IV therapy, and pain management
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment and provide compassionate bedside care
• Willingness to float to units with similar patient-care needs and experience when required

Travel Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to post-operative surgical, trauma, medical overflow, and other acute-care patients
• Complete assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate patient progress
• Manage wounds, dressings, drains, NG tubes, central lines, TPN, IV therapies, and post-operative recovery needs
• Administer medications and monitor patients receiving heparin and other prescribed therapies
• Recognize changes in patient condition and communicate concerns promptly to providers and the care team
• Collaborate with patient care technicians, respiratory therapy, monitor technicians, providers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team
• Use EPIC to maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation
• Support safe transitions of care through patient education, discharge preparation, and clear handoff communication
• Deliver respectful, patient-centered care while maintaining a positive and professional bedside manner
