Job Description Position: Principal Starting Date: Immediately Employment: Full time with benefits, 12‑month contract Location: Stokes County Schools, Walnut Cove Elementary, Walnut Cove, North Carolina Salary: $6,806.75 per month Responsibilities Conceptualize broad goals of the school and plan accordingly to ensure procedures and schedules are implemented for the total school program. Ensure that the school program is compatible with legal, financial, and organizational structure of the system; define staff responsibilities and accountability and develop plans to interpret the program to the community. Provide activities that facilitate professional growth of staff and enhance quality of the instructional program. Identify annual objectives for instructional, extra‑curricular, and athletic programs. Develop instructional objectives for subjects/classrooms and involve faculty and others in creating specific curricular objectives to meet school needs, providing staff participation opportunities. Establish, implement, and evaluate procedures for the daily school routine. Evaluate student progress by maintaining up‑to‑date student data and supervise/apprise staff performance. Maintain inter‑school system communications, seek assistance from central office, maintain good relationships with students, staff, and parents, and comply with lines of authority. Orient and assist new staff and students and provide opportunities for their input into the program. Encourage use of community resources, cooperate with community, interpret school program, and maintain communication with community members. Manage, direct, and maintain records on materials, supplies, and equipment necessary for daily routine; involve staff in prioritizing instructional supplies. Organize, oversee, and support services, supplies, materials, and equipment for the school program, using community resources. Minimum Training and Experience Completion of an approved program in school administration at the master’s level or above with 3 to 5 years of classroom teaching experience, or an equivalent training/experience combination. Special Requirements Must possess a license in school administration as a Principal from the State of North Carolina and a valid North Carolina driver’s license. Minimum Qualifications or Standards Required to Perform Essential Job Functions Physical: Ability to operate computers, copiers, calculators, cell phones, and a motor vehicle; lift, carry, push, or pull up to 10 pounds occasionally. Language Ability: Read and prepare reports, correspondence, forms, charts, and plans; speak before groups with poise. Intelligence: Apply logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret technical instructions. Verbal Aptitude: Record and deliver information; follow oral and written instructions. Numerical Aptitude: Use mathematical formulas, basic arithmetic, decimals, percentages, algebra, and descriptive statistics. Form/Spatial Aptitude: Inspect items for proper length, width, and shape. Motor Coordination: Rapid and accurate hand‑eye coordination with office equipment. Manual Dexterity: Handle office equipment and hand tools; maintain minimal coordination; differentiate colors.
