Role Overview:
Seeking a Senior IBM MQ Exit Developer with strong C programming expertise to design, maintain, enhance, and troubleshoot custom IBM MQ exits across enterprise messaging environments. The role requires deep knowledge of IBM WebSphere MQ (IBM MQ), MQ internals, C programming, and multi-threaded application development.
The engineer will work on Channel Exits, Security Exits, API Exits, and Message Exits, supporting authentication, authorization, message transformation, security, and observability requirements. The role also involves L3 production support, legacy exit modernization, migration initiatives, performance optimization, and integration with external systems such as LDAP and REST APIs.
Core Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, debug, and enhance IBM MQ exits using C.
Work with Channel Exits, Security Exits, API Exits, and Message Exits.
Develop thread-safe and high-performance C code for multi-threaded MQ environments.
Troubleshoot complex production issues and provide L3 support.
Analyze and modernize legacy MQ exit implementations.
Evaluate native IBM MQ capabilities to reduce dependency on custom exits.
Integrate MQ exit functionality with LDAP, REST APIs, and enterprise security systems.
Support MQ migration, upgrades, deployment, rollback, and lifecycle management.
Create technical documentation, design documents, coding standards, and operational runbooks.
Must-Have Skills
8 10+ years of experience in IBM MQ / WebSphere MQ.
Strong C programming and low-level systems development.
Hands-on experience developing IBM MQ Exits.
Strong understanding of IBM MQ architecture and internals.
Experience with threading, synchronization, memory management, and performance optimization.
Production L3 troubleshooting and support.
Knowledge of MQ security and authentication mechanisms.
Experience with Linux/Unix environments is highly relevant.
Experience integrating MQ with LDAP/REST APIs is a plus.
