Coordinator, Budget (14030)

Florida A&M University's Department of Nursing is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the Coordinator, Budget vacancy.


Responsibilities


Lead annual and multi-year budget development for the unit, including base and one-time requests, salary and OPS planning, and carry forward/encumbrance considerations; Prepare budget scenarios, sensitivity analyses, and funding models to support strategic priorities and long-range planning; Advise leadership on resource allocation, cost containment, and investment tradeoffs aligned to institutional policies; Manage University position control, ensuring alignment of positions, rates and FTE with approved budgets; Coordinate position actions (creates, changes, separation) with HR and central budget; Perform salary conversions and maintain rate reports; Validate funding distributions, E&G vs. auxiliary splits, and compliance with pay plan rules; Monitor revenue and expense activity across designated ledgers/projects; and identify variances, trends, and problems areas; recommend corrective actions.


Prepare, analyze and present monthly, quarterly, and annual budgetary and financial reports, including special studies and ad-hoc requests; Reconcile and validate financial data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance; document assumptions and methodologies; Develop dashboards or report templates to improve transparency and decision-making; Interpret and apply applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, as well as University fiscal policies and procedures; Draft, recommend, and help implement unit policies and procedures related to budgeting, fiscal stewardship, and internal controls; and ensure proper segregation of duties, approval workflows, and documentation standards.


Serve as the primary budget liaison to unit leaders, departmental administrators, and central offices; Provide training and guidance on budgeting practices, reconciliations and use of university financial systems; and foster effective working relationships to resolve issues and improve processes.


Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and two years of appropriate experience; or Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization.

Preferred Qualifications


Candidates with education and experience directly related to budgeting, accounting, finance, public administration, economics, business analytics, or a closely related field are strongly preferred.


Pay Plan


This is an Administrative and Professional (A&P) position.
