Director of Nursing - Emergency Services

A hospital in Florence is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing to lead its Emergency Services department. This senior leadership opportunity is ideal for a nursing professional with a strong background in emergency care operations, team leadership, and performance improvement.

Position Overview

The Director of Nursing for Emergency Services provides strategic and operational leadership for the emergency department, ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. This role oversees department performance, staff development, and clinical excellence while fostering strong partnerships across the organization.

The Director works closely with physicians, nursing leaders, and hospital administration to support departmental goals, improve patient outcomes, and enhance operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide overall leadership and direction for emergency services operations
• Lead multidisciplinary teams in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care
• Monitor departmental performance and implement strategies to improve outcomes and efficiency
• Analyze operational and clinical data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
• Develop and support performance improvement initiatives focused on quality, safety, and patient experience
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing leaders, and hospital administration to achieve strategic objectives
• Support staff engagement, professional development, and leadership growth
• Oversee staffing, resource allocation, and operational planning for the department
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
• Current Alabama RN license or eligibility for Alabama licensure required
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in Emergency Services required
• Strong experience leading multidisciplinary healthcare teams required
• Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships across departments and leadership levels
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience using data to drive performance improvement
• BLS and ACLS certifications required or must be obtained within the required timeframe
• Emergency department clinical or leadership experience preferred
• No adverse actions on nursing license
