Job Summary A Medical Office Specialist is responsible for clerical work that ensures high quality, efficient patient care, including front‑desk duties, scheduling, patient registration, insurance verification, medical record management, and billing. Responsibilities Work at the reception desk: answer phones, greet and communicate with patients and providers. Schedule, cancel, and reschedule patient appointments. Check in patients and document registration accurately. Verify insurance and patient demographics. File and retrieve medical records and files. Copy and fax documents. Collect co‑pays and cash from patients; authorize credit card payments. Enter charges, record payments, and balance the day in the computer system. Practice and adhere to the Code of Conduct, Mission, and Value Statement. Perform other duties as required. When certified as a Patient Centered Medical Home, coordinate continuity of care with external health‑care organizations and participate in data collection, health‑outcome reporting, audits and program evaluation. Qualifications Experience: Less than one year required, one to three years preferred. Knowledge of basic office equipment (copier, fax machine, computer). Skill in dealing with interpersonal issues and customer relations. Ability to handle multiple priorities with minimal supervision. Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to organize and communicate clearly. Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information.
