Ornament Shop is looking for an experienced, organized professional who enjoys bookkeeping, keeping things running smoothly, and working with people.

This is a unique year-round role that combines bookkeeping and financial administration during most of the year with seasonal hiring and employee coordination during our busy holiday season .

We are a family-run personalized ornament business in Hudson, Wisconsin . Our business is highly seasonal, which makes this a great fit for someone who wants meaningful responsibility without a traditional 40-hour schedule all year.

During January through August, this position generally works 5–15 hours per week with a flexible daytime schedule . Hours begin increasing in September and ramp to approximately 30–40 hours per week from October through December as our seasonal workforce and order volume grow.

What You’ll Do

During the off-season, your primary responsibility will be helping keep the financial side of the business organized and current. Responsibilities include maintaining bookkeeping records in QuickBooks , reconciling bank and credit-card accounts, tracking accounts payable and vendors, preparing sales-tax filings, assisting with payroll records, organizing financial information for our CPA, and helping monitor expenses and cash flow.

As we approach the holiday season, the role shifts toward People Operations . You’ll help coordinate seasonal recruiting, conduct basic interviews, communicate with applicants, assist with onboarding employees in ADP, maintain schedules, track attendance, support employee communication, and help manage the seasonal workforce through year-end.

We’d Love to Meet Someone Who

Has hands-on bookkeeping experience , preferably using QuickBooks; is comfortable working in Excel or Google Sheets; is organized and dependable; communicates well with employees and applicants; can manage recurring responsibilities without constant supervision; and enjoys working in a small-business environment where priorities sometimes change quickly.

Experience with payroll, HR, employee onboarding, scheduling, office administration, sales tax, or ADP is a strong plus.

Why This Role Is Different

This is not a traditional year-round 40-hour office job. For most of the year, the schedule is flexible and part-time. During our holiday season, the role becomes much more active and hands-on.

It can be an excellent fit for an experienced bookkeeper, office manager, HR professional, or working parent who wants flexible daytime hours most of the year while still having real ownership and responsibility within a growing business .

Schedule: Primarily daytime, on-site in Hudson, WI
January–August: Approximately 5–15 hours/week
September: Hours begin increasing
October–December: Approximately 30–40 hours/week
Pay: $22–$26/hour, depending on experience
