TITLE : IHSS Health Maintenance Activities Attendant

SUPERVISED BY : Clinical Case Manager

JOB SUMMARY: Provide assistance to Agency members who require help with In-Home Support Services Health Maintenance Activities.

QUALIFICATIONS :

1. Able to read, write, and understand English.
2. Able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
3. Have basic knowledge of proper food handling and appliances/equipment use found in member’s home.
4. Have knowledge of basic principles of cleanliness and safety.
5. Demonstrate capacity for high level of tolerance to occasional stressful situations.
6. Demonstrate genuine interest in caregiver role through friendly, caring attitude.
7. Demonstrate a high degree of integrity and dependability in commitment to and in completion of work assignments.
8. Must be at least 16 years of age.
9. Completion of at least twenty (20) hours of training or have passed a skills validation test in the provision of unskilled health maintenance activities

RESPONSIBILITIES : As an Attendant, it is necessary to fulfill the following responsibilities in accordance with Agency policy and procedures, and as determined by Agency assignment .

1. Provide care safely and competently. 
2. Demonstrate appropriate interpersonal communication with member and personnel.
3. Perform and demonstrate competency with personal care assignments and tasks as assigned by the clinical manager.
4. Demonstrate knowledge and skill in the following areas:
5. • Basic first aid
   • Infection control measures
   • Meal preparation
   • Proper body mechanics
   • Environmental cleanliness and safety
   • Proper care and use of appliances/equipment
   • Emergency and disaster preparedness 
6. Notify Clinical Case Manager of changes in member’s condition.
7. Comply with applicable regulations; including but not limited to completing accurate documentation of services provided to member, follow the established care plan, protect the member’s health care information, and report potential fraud and abuse. 
8. To remain familiar with and respect the Agency Patient’s Bill of Rights and Responsibilities.
9. Participate with staff meetings/in-services as assigned.
10. Comply with Agency Employee Policies and Procedures, including submitting timesheets according to assigned time lines. 
11. Function as a member of the care and services team and Agency employee in a positive manner.
12. Seek supervisory guidance as needed.
13. Participate in continuing educational programs.
14. Perform other duties as assigned in accordance with position and qualifications.
15. Ensure member safety and security by supervising the home environment.
