TEMPORARY Invasive Species Technician - WID Trainer - 6060 Broadway

Position Overview Temporary Invasive Species Technician / WID Trainer located at 6060 Broadway, Denver, CO. Hourly salary \$21.50. Employment period: 02/17/2026 – 10/31/2026. Job type: Temporary (9 months or less). Responsibilities Serve as certified Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) Watercraft Inspection and Decontamination (WID) Trainer from March through May, conducting statewide trainings, setting up sessions, creating binders, securing locations, arranging boats and decontamination units, delivering classroom presentations and hands‑on demonstrations, following state procedures and using state‑issued materials. From June through November, in addition to WID trainings, assist the Invasive Species Coordinator and Specialists with: Evaluating the quality of WID Stations independently or as part of a team. Conducting announced quality assurance visits and secret‑shopper evaluations at WID Stations. Performing customer service quality assurance evaluations. Staffing educational events and giving professional presentations to diverse audiences (homeowners associations, community action networks, watershed groups, youth events, school groups, anglers, boaters, etc.). Performing boat inspector and decontaminator responsibilities at Colorado reservoirs as needed. Assisting mechanic with power washer unit maintenance, servicing, diagnostics, repair, transport and storage. Providing excellent customer service to members of the public and partner agencies. Performing general office work: data entry, filing, copying, loading/unloading supplies, GIS mapping or analysis, paying bills, etc. Writing technical reports, memos and briefing documents. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of experience working in ANS or invasive species field. Current Stage II Certification in Watercraft Inspection and Decontamination. Experience performing boat inspections and decontaminations. Previous GIS experience. Experience working with the public in a customer‑service related field. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Outstanding public speaking and presentation skills. Excellent driving record; ability to work weekends, early mornings, and evenings. Ability to travel and be away from home every week if needed. Valid driver’s license and maintenance of a safe driving record; complying with DNR fleet and driving standards. Preferred Education Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or higher education.
