Location: Herreid, South Dakota

Position Details

• Location: Herreid, SD
• School Year: August 18, 2026 – May 20, 2027
• Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 7:45 AM – 4:00 PM
• Caseload: Approximately 15 students
• Grade Levels: Kindergarten through 12th grade+

Student Population

This caseload includes students with a variety of educational needs, including:

• Cognitive Impairments
• Autism Spectrum Disorder
• Learning Disabilities
• Emotional Disabilities
• Other Health Impairments

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Deliver individualized and small-group instruction based on each student's educational goals.
• Foster an inclusive, structured, and supportive learning environment.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families.
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation.
• Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team collaboration.
• Support students in developing academic, behavioral, social, and functional life skills.

Qualifications

• Valid South Dakota Special Education teaching certification (or eligibility to obtain).
• Strong understanding of IEP development and special education best practices.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills.
• Experience working with students with diverse learning and behavioral needs is preferred.
