Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)The Seminole County Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for the position of Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA). This position performs technical work providing initial medical screening to persons incarcerated in the John E. Polk Correctional Facility. Required document: Each applicant must complete a Notarized Background Investigation Waiver. Failure to submit this document will disqualify your application. Applications must be submitted before the closing date of August 18, 2026.Typical DutiesNote: Listed functions, duties, responsibilities, and skills are not intended to be all-inclusive, and the employer reserves the right to assign additional responsibilities as deemed necessary for the operational efficiency of the Sheriff's Office.Interviews and conducts initial screening on new inmates to obtain medical information/screeningPrepares documentation on screening as instructedTakes and records vital signsCompletes physical observations of inmates in accordance with medical protocolDocuments encounters in the electronic medical record using the approved SOAPE formatMay be required to draw blood and follow established protocols for preparing samples for laboratory analysisLogs the use of medical supplies, including bandages, keys, and medical instrumentsPrepares, maintains, and scans medical documents as neededProvides assistance to other nurses or physicians as necessaryPerforms all other duties as assigned or requiredMinimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma/GEDOne (1) year of responsible work experienceMust possess and maintain a State of Florida license as a Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant, with coursework in phlebotomy preferredMust possess and maintain current licensure and CPR, OSHA updates, and CEU certifications as required for licensure and accreditationInternal applicants must have completed the Seminole County Sheriff's Office one (1) year probationary periodMust possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's LicenseKnowledge, Skills, Abilities & OtherRegular and prompt attendance is mandatory in the performance of an employee's duties for this position, to include scheduled work hours, required training activities, calls for mandatory overtime needs, and calls for service during times of an emergency.Knowledge of basic nursing methods and practices, including public health and communicable diseases.Ability to demonstrate ethical and professional behavior; to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; to follow instructions; to maintain effective working relationships with superiors and the medical community.Working conditions: The work environment for this position is in the John E. Polk Correctional Facility. This position has direct contact with inmates.
