This position reports to the Director of Video Services. Our team is looking for candidates with strong video skills, a desire to grow in the creative video field, and the ability to find success in a fast-moving environment. Video content will highlight the student-athlete experience at James Madison University and other aspects of 18 varsity sport programs and athletics facilities. An online portfolio is required for consideration. Duties and Responsibilities: Coordinate, produce and deliver video content that is consistent with the JMU Athletics brand, aligned with department goals and targeted to inspire all constituents (fans, alumni, current student-athletes, coaches, recruits) to more deeply engage and invest in the athletics department and university. Collaborate with the Director of Video Services and the creative services team to help build strategies that apply to all multimedia content. This content will include social media, video boards and other internal video needs. Help Director of Video Services with staff assignments to the event coverage schedule for all athletic home events, special events within Athletics and other events as assigned. This will include night and weekend work throughout the year and could also include travel. Schedule will be for all 18 varsity sports. Supervise and recruit student staff. Ensure that all students understand their respective responsibilities and assignments, ensuring standards are in place for student recruitment and retention. Respond to assignments in a prompt, professional manner and manage participation from student contributors. Help Director of Video services with equipment inventory, organizational standards of the video server and corresponding digital tools, video archives and other video resources. Collaborate with Director of Video Services to ensure video needs across athletics are being met. Develop relationships with creative services team, students and other external operation team members including but not limited to: JMU Duke Club, Ticketing, Fan Engagement, Athletics Communications and Broadcast, Facilities/Events. Other partners may include: Daktronics, JMU Sports Properties, all 18 varsity sport programs and numerous external video requests. Qualifications: Required Qualifications: Experience in Collegiate Athletics Creative Video or Professional Sports Video content Experience creating creative compelling content that displays the athletics departments brand and goals in a positive light Strong videography skills including shooting and editing, including coloring and knowledge of output settings Demonstrated knowledge of the video production process, camera operation, lens types, filming techniques, light design, and post-production process Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including but not limited to: Premiere Pro, After Effects Proficient time management and prioritization skills Availability on weeknights and weekends will be required Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Manage heavy load of deliverables while delegating projects within video staff Highly motivated, energetic, be able to balance multiple tasks, produce high-quality work on tight deadlines Dependability, consistency and willingness to take risks and learn new things A team player who gets along well with others and respects the departmental reporting structure Additional Considerations: Experience supervising and mentoring staff and student workers Additional Posting Information: Applicants should submit an online application with the following items attached: Document with link to online portfolio Conditions of Employment: Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.
