TCOLE Mission

The mission of the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement, as a regulatory State agency, is to establish and enforce standards to ensure that the people of Texas are served by highly trained and ethical law enforcement, corrections, and telecommunications personnel.

Who We're Looking For

The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) is seeking a Program Specialist I to join the Special Projects team located at 6330 E HWY 290, Suite 200, Austin, TX.

Program Specialist I: Performs routine (journeylevel) consultative services and technical assistance work. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Employees at this level may rely on direction from others to solve problems that are not standard.


The salary for this position is $51,450. The job class is 1570 and salary group is B17.


Essential Job Duties

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

Performs administrative support duties for Fleet Management Services.

Work involves typing and data entry, tracking, verifying and updating reports for internal use, timely processing and disseminating of information, paperwork and follow through for a variety of fleet support needs.

Analyzing and processing required paperwork on all new and existing vehicles. Monthly audits, processing all vehicle tags, state inspections and registrations data.

Processes all fleet invoices and electronically files vehicle repair orders, organizes fuel card receipts for all fleet vehicles and logs monthly fuel usage reports, administers Fleet Voyager System and TX Fleet Management System pages.

Works with Fleet Coordinator, assists with fixed asset inventory, assists with scheduling and maintenance tracking for repairs and scheduled maintenance on agency fleet vehicles.

Performs administrative tasks related to vehicles, assist management as directed, handle all matters with speed and accuracy.

Assist in conducting program analysis studies to develop and recommend solutions to problems; assist in implementing solutions approved by higher level personnel.

Participate in program planning, development, and implementation related to fleet management.

Process correspondence related to technical programs and activities.

Prepare and present progress reports on fleet management.

Determine workload trends and resolve technical problems.

Coordinates work efforts with other team members to maximize effectiveness.

Review, edit and update workrelated reports and publications as instructed.

Safeguard all stateissued property within employee¿s control.

Ensures security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information.

Complies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity.

Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Graduation from high school or equivalent required.

Accounting background is a plus but not required.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and database programs including Samsara systems.

Ability to accurately enter and retrieve information from various computer systems and programs in a timely manner.

Knowledge of training program development and analysis techniques.

Ability to query, download, manipulate and interpret reporting files and multiple spreadsheets.

Ability to identify and correct errors or issues with tasks or processes and respond positively to constructive feedback.

Skill in effective oral and written communication with the ability to communicate oneonone with individuals as well as large groups.

Ability to gather, sort, correlate, and analyze facts, devise solutions to problems, prepare concise reports, and develop and evaluate policies and procedures.

Exercise sound judgment, decision making, and discretion in applying and interpreting departmental policies and procedures.

Ability to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environment and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Ability to proof own work and review documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance, compile data and information for reports and information for reports.

Ability to prioritize work in a fastpaced multitask environment and meet deadlines.

Ability to perform clerical duties such as typing, filing answering the phone and compiling correspondence.

Excellent customer service skills.

Selfstarter with the ability to work independently.

Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSA.

Must possess a valid driver's license.
