This role is responsible for developing new ideas and solutions which can help the organization in coming up with new strategies and procedures. This role has the responsibility for ensuring the safety, productivity, and efficiency in the department on a daily basis. The position follows standard operating procedures, and practices safe work habits, to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible. This position requires both working in an operational, hands-on capacity and assists with administrative duties when assigned. This position requires working on weekends and on day/swing shifts as scheduled or when needed. Main Responsibilities

- Ensure employees/contractors are following all SSAB Environmental & Safety policies and business plans.
- Communicate the daily shipping plan set by the Shipping Manager and work with the employees to meet the plans goals
- Perform quality and operational audits on shift to ensure employees are following procedures.
- Complete annual employee performance reviews
- Work with Sales, QA, Scheduling, and Transportation to minimize backlog and maximize on-time shipments.
- Rotate employees between jobs to maximize production and allow employees the opportunity to train and keep employees motivated to achieve shipping targets.
- Direct the loading of trucks, railcars, and the placement of new production into the plate/ coil inventories.
- Complete daily shipping reporting functions (shift reports, equipment inspections, QA forms, switch requests, etc.)
- Be a role model and set proper examples for employees to follow.
- High School Diploma or GED/HSE equivalent
- Maintenance Operator experience in Shipping
- 2 years experience as a Team Leader or Step-Up Team Leader
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Computer skills included but not limited to Word, Excel
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure, while maintaining composure and professionalism.
- Possess effective decision-making skills
- Regular and reliable attendance
- Associates Degree
- Sit, stand, walk, alternating up to 12 hours at a time
- Use both hands for grasping, handling, gripping and feeling textures and temperatures
- Lift and/or move up to 10 lbs.
- Balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or climb
- Bend, twist at waist level, reach at and/or above shoulder level and below waist level
- Push, pull, lift, and/or carry items weighing less than 50 pounds
- Vision at near, mid and far range and peripheral vision and depth perception

- While wearing personal protective / safety equipment to prevent injury from noise and environmental hazards
- Position is full time, hourly, and is eligible for overtime
- Position works rotating 12-hour shifts to include days and nights with mandatory vacation coverage as needed
