Registered Nurse (RN) | Surgery

Location: Avera Sacred Heart Hospital Worker Type: Regular Work Shift: Primarily days with night, weekend and holiday on‑call involvement (United States of America) Pay Range: $32.00 - $48.00 per hour, actual pay dependent on experience Position Highlights & Hours Days – start times vary. Three 8‑hour shifts and one 12‑hour shift per week; weekday call once a week/every other week; every 10th weekend on call; one holiday per year on call. Student Loan Repayment: This position may qualify for Avera’s Student Loan Repayment Program: $167 extra payment per month (up to $10,000) to help reduce principal balance. A Brief Overview Delivers nursing care by developing a nursing diagnosis; establishing objectives; defining interventions; providing physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends. Responsibilities Provides patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions, communicating the nursing care plan, and coordinating with other healthcare providers. Develops nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories, examining patients, documenting condition, and establishing objectives and interventions. Teaches healthcare requirements by establishing patient care goals and instructing patients, families, and friends on condition, medications, and self‑care skills. Evaluates patient care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring outcomes, reviewing records, and modifying the care plan as needed. Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy environment by adhering to infection‑control policies, medication administration procedures, and substance regulations. Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records. Keeps patient care equipment operating through troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and ordering repairs. Ensures supplies are ready by checking stock, anticipating needs, ordering, verifying receipt, and stocking items. Maintains competence in nursing capabilities as outlined by leadership.
