UPS Technician III

Responsibilities Perform startups, certifications, preventative maintenance, and scheduled maintenance on UPS systems and battery systems. Lead UPS replacements and new installations, ensuring quality and safety standards are met. Diagnose and repair UPS systems, including routine and emergency service, with minimal disruption to clients. Install, troubleshoot, repair, start up, and commission various types of UPS systems independently. Supervise and guide teams of technicians with varying skill levels on job sites. Collaborate effectively with general contractors, subcontractors, partners, and clients to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget. Operate equipment such as UPS systems, battery systems, PDUs, ATS, and AC/DC rectifiers safely and efficiently. Communicate clearly with co-workers, sales teams, engineering partners, management, and clients. Assess manpower requirements and estimate materials needed for maintenance and installation projects. Monitor crew productivity and safety, taking action when necessary to maintain a safe and effective work environment. Foster a positive team environment and mentor junior technicians by sharing knowledge and best practices. Maintain regular and reliable attendance. Perform other duties as assigned by Services Management. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. 3 to 5 years of experience servicing UPS systems. Electrical and mechanical experience with UPS systems, DC systems, and familiarity with major OEMs (e.g., Eaton, Mitsubishi, Schneider, APC, GE, Emerson). Knowledge of AC/DC theory, electronic components, and circuitry, or willingness to learn. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools such as digital multimeters, amp clamps, phase rotation meters, power quality analyzers, IR cameras, and oscilloscopes. Understanding of isolation devices, arc-flash PPE, and safety protocols. Competency in series, parallel, and series-parallel connections. Ability to interpret torque values and perform visual inspections of installations. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel. Ability to lead teams and mentor less experienced technicians. US Citizenship required.
