Heavy Equipment Operator with AIS Infrastructure

ABOUT The AIS Infrastructure Group consists of four heavy civil construction companies. GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining construction equipment, mainly excavators and bulldozers, to facilitate the successful execution of construction and industrial services projects. This position requires a strong knowledge of equipment operation, adherence to safety standards, and collaboration with the team. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Safely operate and maintain heavy construction equipment, specifically, but not limited to, excavators and bulldozers, for earthmoving and other purposes on heavy civil construction projects. Follow project plans, blueprints, and instructions to complete assigned tasks efficiently and accurately. Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on equipment to ensure optimal performance. Safely load, transport, and unload materials using appropriate equipment and techniques. Collaborate with project teams to coordinate equipment operations and ensure project deadlines are met. EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Minimum of 5 years' experience operating construction equipment with a minimum of 3 years on large excavators and/or bulldozers. Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance to access secured facilities, including military bases. Proficient in operating a variety of construction equipment. Strong understanding of construction processes and techniques. Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to equipment operation. Ability to interpret project plans, blueprints, and specifications. Familiarity with GPS and other relevant construction technology. Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot equipment issues. Attention to detail in executing tasks accurately and efficiently. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Customer service mindset for interacting with project stakeholders. Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and follow instructions. Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness. Valid driver's license. Familiarity with relevant tools, equipment, and software used in the industry. Certification in equipment operation is preferred. WORKING ENVIRONMENT & CONDITIONS Works primarily outdoors at construction sites, exposed to various weather conditions. May encounter hazardous materials or other safety considerations. Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting heavy objects, and operating equipment for extended periods. May be required to work flexible hours or shifts based on project needs. PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS Physical requirements include lifting and carrying heavy objects, climbing, bending, and operating machinery. Mental demands may include working under pressure, managing multiple tasks, and adapting to changing project requirements. Ability to work in various weather conditions, such as heat, cold, rain, or snow.
